Ain’t Music If the Lyrics Don’t Include the Word “Warsh”

I was watching a “Best of Grand Ole Opry” program on KCTS with my grandfather a few weekends ago (hosted by a surprisingly corpulent Vince Gill) when a clip of Patsy Cline singing Crazy came on. My grandfather said, “You know who wrote that?” And I said, “Willie Nelson?” Grandpa looked pleased and I tried to pretend I hadn’t guessed. “He was a good lookin’ man when he was younger,” my grandfather said. Willie did show up later on in the show, looking sharp as promised. As did Loretta Lynn, who nearly-grinned throughout One’s On the Way (written by Shel Silverstein), which I highly recommend you try at least once.

A few days ago on my way to work I was listening to this playlist and I had to pretend to run for a light because I started skipping by accident.
Which is a pretty good measure of how things are going. At least right now.*

* I tried to avoid adding this sentence, but I will only be able to sleep tonight because I did.
